Serving Our Neighbors In Need Since 1975
Whatever you do for the least of these, you have done for me also.
Matthew 25
Uplift Family Housing provides a home to homeless families with children. The transitional program is designed to lift a family from homelessness to housing independence. Fourteen different families moved through our program in 2008 - 2009. The families consisted of 18 adults and 27 children. Uplift currently has six homes in Morganton.
Food Pantry
We feed hungry people
by distributing groceries from our Food Pantry.  We provide food to one family at a time by assisting them as they walk though our Food Pantry and have the dignity of selecting from the available food what they want to eat. 464,528 pounds of food was distributed in fiscal year 2008-09 from the Food Pantry.  This is a  76% increase over the amount of food distributed this past fiscal year.
Soup Kitchen In the Soup Kitchen we serve a mid-day meal every day of the year to anyone who wants to come eat.  We also serve an evening meal on Tuesdays and Thursdays  This past year we served 63,765 meals to feed hungry people-a 13.4% increase in the number of meals over last year’s record.
Saved For You
Donated clothes are used to help persons in crisis.
Every member of the household is given three changes of clothing. The clothing that is not given away is placed in our retail store for sale to the public. It is estimated that about 4,000 pieces of clothing per month are sold in the Saved For You Clothing Store. All of the proceeds from these sales are used to support our Crisis Ministry. Revenue from our store is our second largest source of support.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.' Matthew 25: 35-36
